Officials are providing an update Wednesday morning on the recapture of Danelo Souza Cavalcante, a convicted murderer who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison on Aug. 31 who sparked a 13-day manhunt.
The press conference from the Pennsylvania State Police and the Chester County District Attorney's Office is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. ET. USA TODAY will be providing live coverage of the press conference. You can watch live at the video at the top of the page or on USA TODAY's YouTube channel.
Cavalcante, 34, has been captured, authorities said Wednesday morning. He has been spotted numerous times since his initial escape, and police said Tuesday they were they were "pursuing" Cavalcante, 34, in South Coventry Township, a rural area in northern Chester County. He was in possession of a weapon, a rifle with a scope, that he had stolen from a homeowner's garage.

Who is Danelo Souza Cavalcante?
34-year-old Danelo Cavalcante, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for stabbing 33-year-old Deborah Brandao to death in 2021 while her 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were present. He was awaiting transfer to a state facility when he escaped Chester County Prison just outside Philadelphia on Aug. 31.
He's also wanted for a 2017 murder in his native Brazil, the district attorney's office said.
Has Danelo Cavalcante been found?
Cavalcante has been captured, officials said Wednesday.
On Monday, a motorist reported to law enforcement seeing a male crouched near the wood line on Fairview Road, west of Route 100 in East Nantmeal Township. He had disappeared into the woods by the time the motorist turned her car around to verify what she saw.
Troopers formed a perimeter around the area he was sighted, and discovered footprints in the mud that were a match to the prison shoes Cavalcante wore. Both shoes were located after finding the footprints. Authorities also learned that a pair of work boots had been stolen in the immediate area from a porch.
Since his escape, he had changed his appearance and traveled outside of the police search perimeter to the home of an acquaintance he'd known several years ago. He unsuccessfully attempted to speak to the person through his doorbell security system, which captured the fugitive's new clean-shaven face, authorities said.
He stole a 2020 Ford Transit van, which was recovered abandoned and empty of gas in a field behind a barn in West Nantmeal Township, a rural area in northern Chester County.
Law enforcement released images Sept. 5 of a sighting of Cavalcante after security at Longwood Gardens received trail camera footage on their property, later confirmed to be Cavalcante. Longwood Gardens is a botanical garden in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, about 40 miles west of Philadelphia and 11 miles south of West Chester, where Cavalcante escaped.
